Privacy Policy

1. Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Finianews website (finianews.com)
- FiniAlfa mobile application for Android
FiniAlfa is designed with privacy as a first principle. All financial data you enter (transactions, budgets, savings goals, loans, recurring payments) is stored exclusively on your device. We do not run any account system. We do not store your financial data on our servers.
2. What we collect and where it goes
Stored only on your device (never transmitted)
- Transactions, amounts, categories, notes, dates
- Budgets, savings goals, loans, subscriptions, recurring payments
- App settings and preferences
These are stored locally using encrypted local storage (Hive). They are deleted when you uninstall the app or use the "Reset" options in Settings.
Transmitted to a third-party AI service (only when you use AI features)
FiniAlfa offers two optional AI-powered features that send data to Anthropic's Claude API:
- Receipt Scanner — when you take or upload a photo of a receipt, the image (as base64-encoded data) is sent to extract merchant, total amount, and line items. The image is processed in real time and not stored after the response.
- AI Financial Insights — when you request an insight, the app sends aggregated numbers only: total income, total expenses, balance, and totals per category (e.g. "Food: €200"). Individual transaction names, merchants, or notes are not sent. No personally identifying information is sent.
All AI traffic is routed through our HTTPS proxy at finia.herkom7.workers.dev(Cloudflare Workers) which forwards requests to Anthropic. The proxy keeps the Anthropic API key on the server side so it is never embedded in the app. The proxy logs only error events for debugging, with no personally identifying information.
Anthropic's processing of this data is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy (anthropic.com/legal/privacy) and Commercial Terms. Anthropic states that API requests are not used to train models.
Subscription processing (when you upgrade to FiniAlfa Pro)
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive, store, or process your payment information. Google Play provides us only with a subscription status (active / expired) which is used to unlock Pro features on your device.
3. What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your location (the app does not request location permission)
- Contacts, calendar, or other phone data
- Any data when you are not actively using an AI feature
- Analytics or crash reports from the mobile app
The Finianews website (finianews.com, separate from the mobile app) uses Google Analytics 4 for anonymized aggregate traffic data. This applies only to the website, not the FiniAlfa app.
4. Third-party services
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI processing for Receipt Scanner and Financial Insights, accessed via our Cloudflare Workers proxy. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare Workers — hosts our API proxy at finia.herkom7.workers.dev. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play — app distribution, in-app purchases, subscription management. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob (planned for the Free tier) — we may introduce advertising in the Free version of the app via Google AdMob. When enabled, AdMob may collect device identifiers (Advertising ID) for ad personalization and frequency capping. FiniAlfa Pro subscribers will not see ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device's system settings. See Google's Ads Privacy.
For the Finianews website only: we use NewsAPI for headlines and Eurostat for economic indicators. Neither service receives any user data from you.
5. Security
Financial data is stored locally on your device with encrypted local storage. All network traffic uses HTTPS. We do not have access to your device or your financial data. The Anthropic API key is held server-side in our Cloudflare Worker and never embedded in the app.
If you uninstall the app, all local data is deleted with the app. There is no server-side data to delete because we do not have any.
6. Your rights
- Access — all your data is already on your device; you have full access through the app.
- Deletion — uninstall the app, or use Settings → developer menu (tap "Version" three times) → Reset options.
- Opt-out of AI features — simply do not use the Receipt Scanner or Financial Insights features. Receipt Scanner is invoked only when you take or upload a photo. Financial Insights run only when you explicitly request them. No background processing occurs.
- Cancel subscription — through Google Play account settings.
- Opt out of personalized ads (when AdMob is introduced) — open your device Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of ads personalization". Or upgrade to FiniAlfa Pro for an ad-free experience.
If you are in the EU/EEA, GDPR rights apply. Since we do not store any personally identifying data on our servers, most rights (access, portability, erasure of server-side data) are not applicable to data we hold.
7. Children's privacy
FiniAlfa is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us through the AI features, please contact us.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced on this page and reflected in the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance.
